Are there no x35 users here? Also noted that there are spam postings regarding Viagra! Does anyone monitor this forum?

You can reinstall an older version of the firmware.
You don't say what version of the firmware you have just installed, but if it is R1721 then it may be a good idea to restore the X35 to factory settings, turn off automatic update, delete all of your music in the "my music" folder, and then restore the music to the X35 from a current backup.
Firmware version R1721 has these problems, which may not or cannot be undone by just reinstalling an older firmware version: Albums with the same name are saved together in the same folder (typical example Best of). Exactly identical files in the same album mean that the last file "wins" and overwrites the previous one. Changes made to the TAGs via the web interface are lost if either a database check or a backup was not carried out before the update.

Thanks for the reply. Before the firmware R1721 installed I tried to backup but it got stuck after 8 minutes. Will I still be able to use it? I downloaded R1530 which I would like to try restoring. Can you give me the procedure and do I unzip to a usb first.

On your system drive do you have a folder my music? If so then this is all your music. Use the web browser interface or neo and see what is in your database and let me know

I have a folder my music and all my music seems to be there so did a backup to be safe. I tried to roll back firmware putting file X35-CA-1.0.0.r1530.pkg on usb stick but although it seemed to start I continually got a blank screen so am stuck on R1721 which has no web browser which I need to use my x35. Due to my disability this is the best way for me to control my machine. If the new web browser for pc had been released at the same time all would be fine. Just want to use my machine again. Any help would be appreciated.

By seems to start do you see a lot of Linux code scrolling down the screen with green ticks.
The my music is the result of the last upgrade exporting your music from the database. KEEP THIS AS IT IS ALL YOUR MUSIC. Sorry to shout but this is key. There is no web browser as you should be using the music neo app to browse from a tablet only.
Do the down grade again.
Power off
Power on at switch
Hold two buttons
Start x device
Release buttons when upgrade starts on screen

So I should rename X35-CA-1.0.0.r1530.pkg to just firmware.pkg? When done will I be able to use the web browser again as I can't use the app due to disability.

This will return you system to the previous functionality. Yes rename the package and procede as below. Your data base will contain no music so either browse and play from my music or reimport fro my music. Check to see f the backup contains anything by browsing to it. Do not connect to the internet until you have turned auto update off!!!! Or you will have to start again. 1) power off X device at backpanel switch 2) download required firmware www.cocktailaudio.com/home/sub04_02_35.phpDo not Unzip this firmware 3) rename firmware firmware.pkg 4) copy to root of a USB stick or drive 5) insert USB or connect drive to X device 6) power on X device on backpanel switch 7) hold menu button and scroll knob 8) turn on device via push button 9) release menu button and scroll knob when text appears on screen Wait until the text (lilo Linux loader) finishes and X device resets. Follow instructions to complete installation. The upgrade to the newest firmware exported music from the old database to the directory my music in its original format before rescanning and loading the new database (lite) with ONLY the path/unique identifier of the music, just like iTunes and Windows Media player, and hence no backup is required as a rescan is all that is needed. In the old database everything is embedded in the database and therefore required a specialist database backup provided by the X device firmware.

You are telling me not to unzip the firmware just rename it? On svcdistibution it says to rename the X35-CA-1.0.0.r1530.pkg file. Which is correct? I'm in Scotland and its very cold.
