Greetings, I'm currently on R0122. I went to R0129 but found it too buggy, and successfully reverted back to R0122. There's now a newer firmware out R0135 - www.cocktailaudio.de/support/firmware/Has anyone tried R0135? Which version would you recommend. After reading a couple of horror stories here about R0129, my days of automatically taking on the new upgrade are over... so if anyone has any experience with the new version, I'd love to hear what you make of it. Paul.

Hi Paul,
I agree with you. For me too, the days of doing an automatic upgrade are gone. The firmware engineers iron out one issue, only to introduce another. They really are not on top of their game, I'm afraid. R0135 has a few new features, but, like you, I prefer the R0122. It served me well all these past months and I see no need to change it. I've come across a couple of bugs with the new firmware, such as a limited use for the F1 (Information) key. It seems to do very much less now, than it used to. But the worst issue is the RECOVERY option accessed from the SETUP/Music DB menu. I find quite often that amending some metadata (usually via the Web Interface Guide) causes the X30 to "lose" a track. i.e. it's still there in the MusicDB but is inaccessible. You can't edit it and you certainly can't play it. A recovery takes care of this. In version R0122, this process took about 50 minutes for a DB the size of about 1TB. With the new version, I find this now takes somewhere upwards of 15 hours. Quite ridiculous, and I fail to see why these sorts of problems are not picked up before the new firmware is officially released. With all my moaning though, I still think the X30 is a fabulous piece of kit and has little to rival it (at the moment) certainly at the current asking price.

thanks for the post, Dan. I've been waiting for some feedback on the new firmware. At times, the updates seem quite good. For instance, i love the Multi-Cut analysis option and find it cuts tracks well consistently. But, i don't use it when ripping vinyl. The documentation on how to actually tag and import cuts into the DB is awful! I hate to upgrade firmware without strong documentation. I'll keep watching this thread for any comments on the pro/cons of the R0135. ...and agree wholeheartedly on the value of the x30. Cheers!
