I have had this problem intermittently in the past, but generally it has corrected itself.
However for the past few weeks, when trying to rip any CD, neither the album nor the track listings are displayed. I just get Track1, Track 2 etc
There is an internet connection, and the CDs all come up with the relevant information when played on my laptop.
Can you help please, as this is extremely irritating, thanks.
Information for albums ripped in the past displays as normal.

Could be the cd id (many versions) is different - try installing the freedb file or make sure the device is online. Try reinserting the cd & see... www.novafidelity.co.uk/downloads/Free DB Updates installer_icon128 small.gif Latest Update Released: 1st December 2016 download HERE N.B. Free DB Complete is a large file (Approx 900MB) and may take some time to download. Hope this helps, Best regards

Yes but this is happening not just to one or two CDs but to all of them. Well over ten. And yes the device is online every time. I really don't want to instal a massive DB file which will be out of date as soon as it is installed! I just want my very expensive Cocktail to do what it is supposed to be doing, and what I paid for

Hi, When your X10 was set up the free db was part of the installation. a cd was included with the owner installation instructions, so in theory updating just overwrites new data over old with negligible increase in size (see p20 owners manual) ..... sorry you have to do this time to time to refresh the system.
There is an alternative and that it is to do it manually, which I have done using a combination of remote control and the web server:
Load your cd and click cd Play/Rip I assume you see 01-Track-1 etc
Click menu on remote - Ripping all - O.K.
Select your format (MP3 etc) - O.K.
Title will read FreeDB Connect Fail - This is why you should consider FreeDB re install, but if you prefer not to do this you could use this option:
Enter Artist Manually via remote, (Do this so you can pick up album art)
Enter Album Manually via remote, (Do this so you can pick up album art)
Enter Year, Genre and select album art (Amazon album art is pretty good)
click O.K. - cd should rip, after ripping you can either enter track names via remote
OR you can use the WEB interface
Go to Setup - select Network - select network InFo
Make a note of your IP Address (192.168.1.x)
On your PC / Laptop etc - key in the IP address
This will read you X10
Enter the artist and album in appropriate search box, double enter, the album will appear and here you can change track 1 etc to song title (click the green icon) don't forget to click save on each track.
After all this the X10 is a very good unit for the money, keeps hundreds of cd's that are easy to find and saves lots of space.
Hope this helps

Sorry for the long delay, I gave up for a bit.
I know that I can enter all this information manually, but the Cocktail should be picking it up automatically. I have a great many CDs to rip and to put all this information in manually would take me days and days and days.
This is what has happened now:
After just one CD actually being ripped correctly recently with the information etc being picked up and input, this then - again - stopped happening.
Long story short, I identified that there was an issue with the network connection.
So this evening, I connected a keyboard and put in the WiFi password (it was already in there but I thought maybe it was wrong).
I still got a message "Network set fail!!!!!"
I looked at the network info and it said "Wireless network not connected."
I looked at the wireless info and it said "Signal level 10% Link quality 10%" (I already knew the WiFi signal is bad in that corner)
So I took the box upstairs and put it right next to the router, where the signal level came up as 100%.
I still got "Fail connect network stream." In all these cases, the green i-service icon is lit up.
So THEN I connected the box to the router with an ethernet cable, and I STILL got "Fail connect network stream."
So then I looked at the "Wired set up" on DHCP (Auto IP) and it displayed all the network information as it should do, but then on pressing OK it STILL says "fail connect network stream".
Just on the offchance I tried to rip a couple of CDs and surprise surprise, no artist or track information.
Please can anybody tell me what I need to do to connect to the network.
I had made no changes to any settings or anything else in the minute or so between there being a network connection (as evidenced by the album information being picked up) and there being none.

Hi, in the absence of any other help from users on this forum all I can suggest is that you try looking at:- Cocktailaudio.co.uk - select forum, this forum is substantially about the X10, just select topic and read through, or try the search option for 'network set fail' or 'freedb connect fail' etc. I presume you did install the freedb when you purchased your X10 and updated it, it's size is not significant compared to the hd on the X10.
On this older, but far more substantial forum hopefully you will find a solution
Good luck and Seasons Greetings
