Appeared on my unit last night - r108 is the variant.
I haven't seen mention of this on the home page so I couldn't tell you what has changed. Be interested to hear if anyone knows...

For the last few hours (after the latest software update) there is no service. On the unit display it only keeps saying INITIALIZING... for the last few hours. Is there a problem at your end? How can this be fixed? Can one downgrade to the previous version?

It downloaded and installed without a hitch for me.

I installed the new firmware without a hitch and listened to several hours of music before switching it off to watch TV. Now, when I try to boot up again, it sits on 'INITIALIZING'. Hard power off and rebooting doesn't help. Anyone any ideas?

I tried forcing it to load the previous firmware using a memory stick and the 'jog wheel + menu push as you power up' sequence. However, it wouldn't move to the firmware loading screen so I gave up. But now it will boot up past the INITIALIZING' screen and I'm back to listening to music.

So, I thought it had been fixed but it wasn't. Again it got stuck on the 'INITIALISING' screen again.
I realised that my earlier attempt to install the old firmware hadn't worked because my USB drive wasn't formatted correctly having come off my Mac. I reformated the drive and again used the jog wheel + menu push on power up and this time it installed the old firmware.
However, when it rebooted it detected the new firmware and asked if I wanted to install it which I did. It appears now that the second install of the r108 firmware has worked. I've powered it up several times and it reboots past the INITIALIZING' screen each time.
At least I know I can go back to the old firmware if needed.

So, a week after successfully using the new firmware after some initial problems, it's back to sticking on the INITIALIZING' screen.
What is it with the software of the X12? Beautiful machine but frustrating software! Back to the old firmware which means I loose the Grace Note music DB I've subscribed 10 Euros for.

My X12 has also stuck at "initializing". Left it overnight and no change. Tried switching off and on again but same result. Surely Nova Fidelity can resolve this problem for us but how do I contact them directly ?

Try Technical Support direct at support@novafidelity.co.uk I assume that address is still valid.

Installed r108 last night and now cd eject won't work either from unit or remote. Manually ejected cd tray with a pin and loaded a cd. Cd won't spool up and I cannot not now rip any CDs. Has anyone had this same experience? I wish I had not installed r108 as it was all operating beautifully before then! Any help in undoing r108 would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Wish I had not installed the new firmware.
1. Conversion is MUCH slower with this version.
2. Searching is more difficult. Previously if you typed the first few characters that you wished to search for and hit enter your search would work. Now you have to select what you want, in what looks like German.
3. Things called mood and tempo have now been added, to what point I do not know.
4. Around half the time when I try to turn the unit off it hangs and I have to power down.

... and backup now takes days rather than hours, and is not picking up recently added items.

Hi there, I also updated to the new firmware on the X12 and the most annoying thing is that you can't order it by Album name. For example when I sort it by Genre/Album, the order is by import date, and there isn't a alphabetical ordering option, or is it there? Thanks

I just bought the x12, and after plugging it in was prompted to update firmware which I did. Managed to rip 2 cd's, but album artwork missing although I selected it, now it doesn't eject or go to cd play/rip. I can manually eject with a pin, but doesn't play or rip. I've turned it off at the back, left it for half an hour, no change. Any ideas?
