Guys,
If I'm doing something wrong here, then please put me straight before I throw the box at the wall. I have spent weeks, months trying to get my CD collection loaded into the x12. Then I run recovery, AND IT DELETS A WHOLE SHEDLOAD OF FILES.
I have started from scratch at least 3 or 4 times. This latest one is really annoying. I have been doing this:
Ripping a number (large number) of disks, then backing the system up to a USB drive, then run recovery to check that everything is ok. At first, this went well with no entries in the Recoveries list. Then there was one or two errors which got recovered.
After a lengthy session Ripping a large number of disks, I backed up the system, then ran recovery again.... and recovery DELETED most of the files. The recovery folder just had a lot if idb files, not FLAC but the associated FLAC files have disappeared. So I thought I would go and restore from the backup. Well it's still running but it doesn't appear to be restoring many FLAC files because they don't appear to be on the backup either.
What gives? this is so frustrating, and if I can't rely on the backup either....
HELP please.

I understand your frustration. My X12 had a problem with stability, database and overheating. The solution was to use external HDD. Took 25 minutes to copy entire HDD including hidden database files (about 90GB) to my NAS. Then I copied all files to another external HDD for testing purposes. Connected it to X12. All worked perfectly.

I have done some digging, and once I connect to the x12 using a PC I can see all the "deleted" FLAC and MP3 files - it took me 5 DAYS to copy them over the network. I also copied the "recovery" files. Looting at this, it's a really dumb database or database recovery routine that does this. As far as I can see, there is an .idb file for each track in a CD album, so there is an album folder and contained in it is a FLACK or MP3 file for each track along with album art. Makes sense. But there is also a HIDDEN FLAC or MP3 file with a sequence number before it in the root of the hdd1.
So, if I am right, each album should cosist of and .idb .FLAC/MP3 file pairing along with the sequence number. The folders in the recovery directory seem to be .idb files with no FLAC or MP3 file.
Question is, why the heck does the recovery not just pair these files up again instead of deleting them, or more to the point, why does it delete them in the first place?
I am NEVER going to use recovery once this is fixed, I will just delete an affected album and re-rip it.
I decided to go for the x12 over a new Brennan to replace my old one. I NEVER had this sort of problems with the Brennan. Unless the firmware for the x12 is made "fit for purpose" I am going to bitterly regret choosing this over the Brennan. Which is a great shame as the x12 has so much potential, it's just let down by this truly horrible so called database.

Well, a bit of trial and error, but I think I have found a way round my problem. Fortunately I had not "cleared" the recovery files. copying the relevant FLAC or MPĀ£ files into the respective album folder in recover AFTER removing the leading "." then going for a re-import works as far as I can see.
It's just a shame the x12 firmware cant do a simple lookup and accomplish the same thing.. Developers, now there's a thought Hint Hint.

The new microcode is MUCH better. Fixed most of my problems, it just seems to have broken the CD cover artwork lookup.
