I've ripped my CD collection to my X12. I understand that the album filename format is: album name / artist I need to rename some of the files, however I can't locate the forward slash symbol (/) on the remote control. Is the forward slash necessary, or will any symbol suffice?

Hi Mudders Thanks for getting in touch. You can use another symbol if you like. You can actually set the album name to anything you don't have to have the artist name on the end if you don't want. Although including it can make finding albums easier when you have the Music DB set to 'Album View'. There are a couple of Symbol keys missing from the remote, but you have a couple of options here: 1) You can plug in a USB keyboard to the X12 (this also works with all other models in the range) and use that to enter tag info 2) You can log on to the X12 from a computer, smartphone or tablet via a browser using the web interface The web interface allows you to to browse your music collection, select what to play and to manage album/track tag info/coverart etc. We've done a short video on our youtube channel with instructions on how to access it ( www.youtube.com/channel/UC9N5Pc1gFvyYMvmfkpoDQeA). I hope that helps Thanks Jules

There is a further "workaround" option to get symbols that aren't available on the remote. This workaround also assumes a USB keyboard isn't being used and there is no wifi connection. There are two versions of what is fundamentally the same option (both assume it is album titles at issue; not song titles). V1: Rename the album, using any already existing title with the symbol needed and then edit the title, keeping the symbol(s) required. V2: Manually edit the metadata of a sacrificial single track (on a PC / laptop), with the album title edited to deliberately including the specific character(s) and /or symbol(s) needed in the album title - the sacrificial album title doesn't need to be real, just so long as it includes the characters needed. It needs to be a FLAC or MP3 file. Then import the track with the fake album title into the MusicDB (using a USB stick). Then find the (genuine, non-fake) album in the Music DB that needs the additional symbols etc and select Rename after clicking "menu" on the remote. Click ok (on the remote) with the cursor in the album title field, then scroll or use the letter pads on the remote to find the fake (sacrificial) title that includes the additional symbols and/or characters. Click on the fake title as if you're going to rename the genuine album with the fake name and then edit the fake title at will, whilst retaining the non-remote characters. Once edited, select OK on the screen, then click OK on the remote. That should work. You can then delete the "fake" album or retain it for future use. Yes, it's clumsy, but it works for me. If the above helps, great. If not, well, er, I tried . Happy listening.
