I prefer to use my X12 as a standalone unit - one of the reasons I bought it originally was that I could keep it separate from my laptop. Using the remote, might it be possible to alter genre & composer data on a group level - selecting multiple tracks as one does when selecting individual tracks to rip? At the moment one has to resort to the tedium of individual TAG edits...

Assuming you're not using the GUI, I don't know of a way to select several individual tracks to change the genre for those specific tracks. It is possible to change a genre from one type to another in one hit (i.e. "pop" to "hip hip" for example) but this will change the genre for every single track that currently has "pop" as its genre. If the latter is of interest, post again and I'll set out the method in a day or two.

Hi - thanks for reply - much appreciated, although I had actually managed to work that much out for myself. It was intended more as a suggestion to Novafidelity for a possible upgrade to the operating system... I live in hope! Thanks again.

I do agree: the tags are often wildly incorrect and frequently give the composer as an artist, leaving the composer field as 'Unknown'! Even with a keyboard, it is tedious editing the composer field - particularly if the disc has 30 or more tracks! Any solution, Novafidelity?
