I recently finished ripping my CD collection and will begin working on my LP's shortly. One issue I noticed is that on a small number on CD's (about 40 or so) in spite of getting a "ripping success" message, one track would be missing from the database. I was then able to rip that individual track with no problem. Has anyone else had this problem? The other was that for a few CD's, it seemed there was a problem with the metadata. The entire lyrics were included in the track title field. I some cases I could just select a different set of metadata, but for a few there was no other choice. I can't figure out a way to get these CD's onto my database. Any ideas?

Hi Nancy. I have the X10 and encountered similar problems. I found the error rate for ripping to be around 5% and, for the most part, this is pretty consistent with most computer based rippers in my experience ("Exact Audio Copy" is an exception, with very very few errors).
I wouldn't worry too much - the solution for ripping the missing track is the same one I use.
With regard to metadata, I'm assuming the lyrics are contained within the on-board Free DB data. If so, that isn't a fault with the X30. The Free DB is an external product that Nova Fidelity and CA adopt for convenience. All the publicly available data bases have flaws of one kind or another so it's a bit of a Hobson's Choice. I had the same issue with a Marillion album and spent ages manually deleting the lyrics. With hindsight, I should have manually ripped the album on my laptop and inserted my own metadata before transferring to the X10 via USB. In fact, with the majority of new CD purchases, I now rip on my laptop rather than the X10's ripper. Two reasons: 1) newer CDs aren't on the Free DB anyway and 2) EAC is slower, but very accurate + an extra second of silence can be inserted at the beginning of the first track so that it doesn't "miss" the opening (I use a sound editor to do this). Obviously, this is very time consuming so won't be very appealing when first loading up the X30.
Hopefully, the above will help at least a bit. Happy listening.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'll try your idea of ripping the problem CD's to my computer.

Hi Folks have an X30 and had not much issue loading my initial 200+ CD's. After a online software upgrade I went to load a few more CD's, they loaded Ok but the Display Mode in Music Data base has gone from the original list of Composer/Album to the name of the last CD I entered. If i click on that CD it still brings up the Album list. I have tried to correct this using the SETUP Menu, but can't seem to change things. If I 'cast' the X30 to another amplifier which has a small screen, I get the normal choices of Album, Compose, Genre, etc...same if i cast the X30 to my Samsung tablet.
So, hopefully someone may have a solution to this dilemma.
Thanks Paul
