Searching for song/track by artist on the X30 does not at this time seem to be a viable option, although I think this would have some distinct advantages, particularly if you have a large number of songs (in my close to 40,000)
I'm sure this would not be a difficult thing to affect. Having found the relevant artist, an F9 search then would just pull up all songs/tracks by that artist.
Any chance of this?

I find the web interface best option for search and most functions. Apart from switching unit on remote is almost redundant.

Hi Dan,
This is possible through the interface on the X30. You just need to...
Change the music DB view to artist/track (go into Music DB, then press menu and select Artist / Track). Find the artist you want either by: 1) Just scrolling down 2) Entering a letter to skip to artists beginning with that letter (e.g. pressing 2 button on the remote twice to jump to B’s) 3) Or pressing search and searching for the artist
Once you’ve found the artist click OK on the remote and the X30 will display only the tracks by that artist. If you press search at this point it will ask you for a track title and will only search from the tracks displayed (i.e. the ones for the artist you’ve selected).
Note: If you keep pressing Back/Return it will eventually return to the original music DB view (e.g. artist/album). You can change the default Music DB view from SETUP -> Music DB.
Hope that helps.
Regards, Jules
