I have just ripped about half a dozen CDs and pressed the power off button on both the remote and unit but I still have the cocktail glass image.

Just bought an X12 and latest firmware was installed via internet by machine. My machine will also not shut down on ocassions unless I switch the power off at the back?

I'm not a techie but offer the following as a suggestion (for info, I have the earlier X10).
Before installing or updating any software, run "Recovery" to weed out loose ends.
Try reinstalling the firmware via a USB stick instead. If the X12 initially appears to freeze, don't panic - get a coffee and give it a few minutes. Hopefully, that will work.
Unfortunately, that's as far as my "knowledge" goes on this type of issue but, so far, the above approach has left me with a fully working X10.
Good luck!

I also get this problem - when listening to radio and the unit is buffering. Indeed in this mode it will not respond to any key presses, either from the remote or on the unit itself.

I started the setup on an X12 and chose the NTFS format. The unit asked for firmware update but it is 187MB and apparently was not accepting it on wireless connection (error:failure). Now the unit will only stay on the red cocktail picture and will not turn off except with switch at back and is otherwise unresponsive. Tried the manual firmware update but the method will not accept it (start the update). There is no response except seeing the cocktail picture. How can this unit start from the beginning and try the setup again or how to fix the problem at this point?

Problem, I have a x40 that after about 2 hours the screen will go black, sometimes a red line will remain along the bottom, then when the next song begins the unit will lock up. It will not respond to the remote or pushing the button on the front. I am then forced to reach in and turn it off manually. This is a real pain in the but. The x40 is the source for my Macintosh c46 preamp and everything is built into a cabinet with lots of air flow, it's been doing this before It was put into the cabinet. any ideas ? jmcclean58@gmail.com
