I have now tried 6 different wifi dongles in my X12 and they all leave 'Wireless Setup' greyed out. Am I extremely unlucky? Can I only use the official dongle? or has my box got a problem? The wired setup works when I plug a cable in and I have done a factory reset. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

It is likely that the dongles you have tried do not support Linux. Check your dongles specifications to see if Linux is listed as one of the supported operating systems (without downloading any additional drivers).
I did use an Edimax EW-7612UAn dongle on my X10 as that did list Linux as a supported OS, but this is now a discontinued product and it was replaced by the Edimax EW-7612UAnV2. However the V2 version uses a different chipset and does not list Linux as a supported OS. So I doubt that it would work.
To save yourself any problems I would just buy the one from Cocktail Audio.

I'm fairly sure the official dongle is is only one guaranteed to work. Think it is/was stated in the manual or on the website.
